Learn the components of the Opening the World of Learning™ (OWL™) instructional program, with emphasis on the philosophy, daily schedule, classroom routine, assessment, and family connection. Participants explore the daily schedule of activities while learning
the research behind the practice. Participants practice using a variety of assessments within the program and learn how these assessments may be used to develop instructional practices. This hands-on, interactive workshop prepares educators to use OWL™ materials and components.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
• Design teaching strategies, based on scientifically sound research, to
prepare early learners for kindergarten.
• Develop lessons that provide preschool-age children with cognitive learning opportunities in high-quality language and print-rich environments.
• Evaluate and implement activities to support the age-appropriate development.
• Use screening assessments or other appropriate measures to identify preschool-age children who may be at risk for reading failure.
