As educators one of our primary goals is to build mathematical thinkers who will flourish in their math careers. This means ensuring students have developed the “full package” of fluency. Unfortunately, we often neglect two essential components of fluency. In this webinar we will experience five research-based strategies that address these neglected components of fluency and also "build procedural fluency from conceptual understanding." (NCTM Mathematics Teaching Practice). Join author Jennifer Bay-Williams as she challenges us to seek ways to ensure our students are flexible thinkers, selecting efficient strategies to solve problems. You will leave with a set of instructional routines to support your own efforts to support fluency in your setting!
