QReads offers a quick, easy, and manageable way to help struggling students experience reading success. Students will build content knowledge and vocabulary to more readily access complex texts.
The QReads instructional routine takes just 15 minutes each day. You can supplement your regular reading program to help those students struggling most with reading.
In nationwide studies, QReads students consistently gained reading speed while improving accuracy and comprehension. This gain was consistent for students in ALL levels of achievement. The text model and instructional routine used in QReads are based on the proven research behind QuickReads—the elementary-grades companion to QReads.
Short, high-interest readings are based on the instructional routine developed by Dr. Elfrieda (Freddy) H. Hiebert, Research Associate at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Professor Hiebert’s model of accessible texts for beginning and struggling readers—TExT—has been used to develop widely used reading programs, including QuickReads and Ready Readers. She is a distinguished researcher and a member of the Common Core State Standards Advisory Committee.
