Students actively acquire new social studies and literacy knowledge and skills through engaging text and digital presentations.
Students will love writing, drawing, circling and underlining content in their own worktexts. This format encourages greater interaction with the text and more active reading leading to long term retention of skills and concepts.
Every chapter in the program features a Target Reading Skill. The worktext allows students to continually practice and apply these skills in the program materials with content specific vocabulary, extensive use of graphic organizers to help them recognize text structure and formulate notes and summaries, and an interactive format that encourages self-monitoring throughout the lesson.
The myStory Book writing strand continues throughout the chapter. At the end of each lesson, students respond to a myStory Idea writing prompt. These prompts are tied to each lesson’s Big Question and allow students to make personal meaning of the content in the chapter.
myWorld Social Studies has a robust suite of whiteboard compatible interactive digital presentations at the chapter and lesson levels allow you to actively engage your students.
myWorld Social Studies new leveled readers includes one intriguing biography per chapter at three reading levels for below, on-level and advanced readers. This allows you to assign “just the right” level reader to each student. These biographies tie directly to the student worktext chapter topics and target reading skills and help students build essential reading skills while also preparing them for high-stakes tests. Students will read biographies of people from various backgrounds who have contributed to the development of the United States.
