Good news! The new IDEA regulations encourage schools to take an intensive Response to Intervention (RTI) approach. What's more, the regulations allow you increased flexibility for using your IDEA funds for your RTI efforts.

Pearson offers a variety of textbooks, ESL/ELL resources, intervention materials, digital curriculum, assessments, and professional development tools that fit the IDEA funding criteria. That's why we created this Resource Center-to help you use your IDEA funds wisely according to your specific needs.

Textbooks

Do your students struggle with academic content? If you answered "yes" to this question, we can help. The final regulations of IDEA allow you to use your funds to purchase materials that provide your students with "additional reinforcement to the core curriculum used in the regular classroom" (Note 269, Federal IDEA Regulations).

Pearson offers two distinct textbook lines to provide the right blend of grade-level content and accessible text to engage and encourage students:

Text-Accessible Textbooks contain academic content across disciplines designed to prepare learners to meet state requirements and match the academic rigor of traditional classroom textbooks. However, Text-accessible products are written at a reduced Lexile level to provide text accessibility to students who are on track to graduate but may be one to three grade levels below.

Foundational Textbooks provide appropriate, multi-disciplinary academic content with the context of adapted text with controlled vocabulary, syntax and sentence length. They also provide modified lesson structure and content and include transition, work and life skill connections. Foundational products are specifically designed for learners with moderate to significant disabilities served additionally in sheltered settings.

ESL/ELL Resources

Do your students struggle with academic background information or vocabulary? When your RTI approach includes resources to provide extra academic support to your students struggling with limited English proficiency (LEP), Pearson's ESL/ELL resources put your IDEA funds to good use. Each resource provides the right blend of grade-level content and accessible language to help students keep pace with their classmates and state tests. Intervention Materials

Do your students need targeted academic intervention? If you need to use IDEA funds for concentrated intervention for students functioning below grade level, you can use IDEA funds for Pearson intervention materials. Assessment

Regular, ongoing assessment is key to a successful RTI approach. Pearson can help prepare you for this requirement with Agora: The Marketplace of Ideas, a training program that school psychologists, special educators, and others who are responsible for professional development and training in their schools can use to better deliver interventions and assessments across all three RTI tiers. Agora is a group in-service professional development program designed to:

• Integrate data from RTI and comprehensive evaluations in the process of identifying specific learning disabilities
• Identify how to develop and use alternative, research-based methods of specific learning disability identification
