As the leading education company, Pearson is serious about evolving how the world learns. We apply our deep education experience and research, invest in innovative technologies, and promote collaboration throughout the education ecosystem. Real change is our commitment, and its results are delivered through connecting capabilities to create actionable, scalable solutions that improve access, affordability, and achievement.
We believe in learning. All kinds of learning for all kinds of people, delivered in a personal style. We believe in its power to change lives, to open doors, to break down barriers, build societies, and offer hope and possibility. Because wherever learning flourishes, so do people.
We are on a mission to improve lives through learning. A large number of our employees have served in classroom. We’re mothers and fathers and guardians. Our company values are “Brave, Imaginative, and Decent” and we try to live them every day. We care deeply about helping you and your students succeed.
We believe that education is an entitlement. Every student should have access to the education and educational tools they need to succeed. That access and those tools ought to be affordable, and the educational system should achieve results that make students college and career ready. To help realize this goal, we have focused our efforts on the strategic areas of Data & Efficacy, Research, and the Digital Revolution.
Pearson’s roots are grounded in global innovation that transforms the landscape and stands the test of time. Our London-based company started in 1844 as a construction company building such noteworthy projects as the Sennar Dam in Egypt and the Manhattan tunnels in NY. We turned to media in the UK in 1921 and diversified into global book publishing in 1971 and education in the 1980s, dabbling in numerous industries along the way.
Then, in 1997, everything changed. In a bold and somewhat controversial move, Marjorie Scardino was hired as one of the first female CEOs of a major FTSE company. The decision ushered in an even bolder aspiration: to transform education globally in order to improve people’s lives through learning.
Now, we are the only company who can bring together all aspects of learning into one personalized solution focused on improving student outcomes and educator effectiveness at all levels—and at scale. And we do it in 70 countries with 41,000 people focused on improving people’s lives through learning.
