Overview

Designed as a guided reading program, Little Celebrations can be used to teach reading skills and strategies in small groups and build student confidence as children start to read independently. This collection of books engages emergent through fluent readers with a variety of books by popular authors and illustrators from diverse cultural backgrounds. Use Little Celebrations to:

• Meet the needs of all students with progressive stages of levels (emergent, early, and fluent) and a variety of genres and literary forms.
• Propel students to reading independence with books “just right” for them. DRA and Guided Reading levels for each book help match students and books.
• Build comprehension through skills and strategies taught and reinforced in guided reading lessons.
• Develop critical thinking skills and opportunities to cross-text read with partner fiction and nonfiction books.
