Leading Authorship

Short, high-interest readings are based on the instructional routine developed by Dr. Elfrieda (Freddy) H. Hiebert, Research Associate at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Professor Hiebert’s model of accessible texts for beginning and struggling readers—TExT—has been used to develop widely used reading programs, including QuickReads and Ready Readers. She is a distinguished researcher and a member of the Common Core State Standards Advisory Committee.
