Performance Assessment Options

Developing true understanding means that students don’t simply memorize facts, dates, and places. It means taking what they’ve learned and transferring that knowledge to new content, situations, ideas, and to their own lives. The goal is to help students become successful learners who will remember not only what they have learned, but how to learn more! Two great ways to see this in the United States History program are:

Historian’s Apprentice Activity Pack – The Historian’s Apprentice Learning System Activity Pack, United States History, explores Essential Questions about American history through compelling primary sources.

Essential Questions – Essential Questions provide a larger framework to guide planning and help students see the big idea of their lessons. These questions frame and challenge theories, forcing students to stretch their thinking and use course content to support and inform their answers. In United States History, students encounter these in the American Issues Connector Features, in every Chapter Assessment, and in the American Issues Connector Journal
