The Striving Readers Comprehensive Literacy grant is focused on advancing literacy skills for students from birth through grade 12, including limited English proficient students and those with disabilities.
With comprehensive grant support and programs that align to grant requirements, Pearson can help your district develop a solid project plan based on the latest literacy research.
Distribution: Thirty-five states applied for the competitive grant, but only six were funded: Georgia, Louisiana, Montana, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Fifteen percent of the funds will target birth to age five, forty percent will go toward elementary, and forty percent will focus on grades 6-12.
How the funds can be used: Grantees will increase the effectiveness of literacy instruction through implementing professional development, screening and assessment, targeted interventions for students reading below grade level, and other research-based methods of improving classroom instruction and practice.
